A San Francisco industrial survivor in the middle of The East Cut.
The towers rose around it. The building stayed — and for more than three decades it helped a technology company design, build, test and deliver real products from one San Francisco address.
A building that helped create a company.
Grande Vitesse Systems has called 390 Fremont Street home for more than 30 years. What began as an old San Francisco industrial building became a creative technical headquarters where products were designed, built, tested, demonstrated and supported.
During that time, the East Cut and Rincon Hill grew vertically around the property. The skyline changed, but the standalone industrial character remained.
The address is also part of a documented public procurement record: a U.S. Navy solicitation identified Grande Vitesse Systems as the only known source for a GVS9000 2U server and listed 390 Fremont Street as the place of performance.
We have never looked at 390 Fremont as simply space to fill. We look at it as a building that helped create a company.
A place where difficult work happened.
From this building, GVS served organizations across aerospace, defense, media, research and enterprise technology. The history matters to the next tenant because it demonstrates what the space has already supported: engineering, client visits, product development, long technical work sessions and a recognizable San Francisco identity.
