Grande Vitesse Systems has moved through the dot-com era, digital media, high-performance acquisition, Fibre Channel storage and now AI—developing more than 100 products around problems that ordinary systems could not solve.
Built in San Francisco
Early work included integrating Apple motherboards and processors into GVS systems. What followed became the larger story: mission-critical technology for space agencies, defense programs, broadcast networks, research universities and global enterprises.
Systems were engineered, assembled and tested at 390 Fremont Street for work that had to perform the first time, every time. The building provided the volume, light, power and flexibility to build prototypes, qualify complete systems, host clients and sustain deployed products over decades.

Engineering to the constraint
GVS product lines were built from customer requirements, not speculative feature lists. When a new system had to fit equipment already deployed, every interface and physical tolerance mattered. That approach also produced genuine firsts—including a redundant power supply integrated into a 1U rackmount Macintosh system.

Each architecture reduced the distance—electrical, software and operational—between the workload and its data.

A 24-bay, serviceable Fibre Channel storage platform developed for sustained acquisition, shared SAN workflows and long operational life. Configurations evolved with enterprise media, RAID protection, redundant paths and security requirements.

Nomadic configurations extended local control with self-encrypting-drive options, including qualified ISE, FIPS and SED media for environments where performance and data protection had to coexist.

Developed through GVS's South Korean channel for a government application, this dual-system Metropolis platform used a ten-slot expansion architecture and purpose-built multi-CPU routing to place high-throughput interfaces close to the storage path. The objective was direct access, deterministic movement and very low latency.
